  Sunday Service

                                                       Morning Worship

Welcome

 Grace, mercy and peace

      from God our Father

      and the Lord Jesus Christ

      be with you.

All  and also with you.

This is the day that the Lord has made.

All  Let us rejoice and be glad in it.

      The night has passed,

      and the day lies open before us;

      let us pray with one heart and mind.

       Silence is kept.

  As we rejoice in the gift of this new day,

  so may the light of your presence, O God,

 set our hearts on fire with love for you;

 now and for ever.

All  Amen.

All  O God, set your blessing on us
as we begin this day together.
Confirm us in the truth by which we rightly live;
confront us with the truth from which we wrongly turn.
We ask not for what we want,
but for what we know we need,
as we offer this day and ourselves
for you and to you, through Jesus Christ, our Saviour.

 Amen

                                                         The Creed

All  I believe in God, the Father almighty,
creator of heaven and earth.

I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord,
who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,
born of the Virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died, and was buried;
he descended to the dead.
On the third day he rose again;
he ascended into heaven,
he is seated at the right hand of the Father,
and he will come to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy catholic Church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and the life everlasting.

Amen.

                                               Prayers of Penitence

Christ the light of the world has come to dispel the darkness of our hearts. In his light let us examine ourselves and confess our sins.

   Silence

   Let us admit to God the sin which confronts us.

All  Most merciful God,
Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,
we confess that we have sinned
in thought, word and deed.
We have not loved you with our whole heart.
We have not loved our neighbours as ourselves.
In your mercy forgive what we have been,
help us to amend what we are,
and direct what we shall be;
that we may do justly, love mercy,
and walk humbly with you, our God.
Amen.

Absolution

These are the words of Jesus.
They are strong and true, so believe them:

“I have come
that you may have life in all its fullness.”

“Go in peace; your sins are forgiven:
Come, each one, and follow me.”

Silence

Now, God,
help us to live as a forgiven people -
visibly different,
gloriously free,
for Jesus sake.

All  Amen.

The Collect

Prayers of Intercession

 Gathering our prayers and praises into one,

All  Our Father, who art in heaven,

      hallowed be thy name;

      thy kingdom come;

      thy will be done;

      on earth as it is in heaven.

      Give us this day our daily bread.

      And forgive us our trespasses,

      as we forgive those who trespass against us.

      And lead us not into temptation;

      but deliver us from evil.

      For thine is the kingdom,

      the power, and the glory

      for ever and ever.

      Amen.

Or

      Our Father in Heaven,

      hallowed be your name,

      your kingdom come,

      your will be done,

      on earth as in heaven.

      Give us today our daily bread.

      Forgive us our sins

      as we forgive those who sin against us.

      Lead us not into temptation

      but deliver us from evil.

      For the kingdom, the power,

      and the glory are yours

      now and forever.

      Amen

                                                         The Sending Out

 From where we are

  to where you need us,

All  Jesus, now lead on.

From the familiarity of what we know
to the wonder of what you will reveal,

All  Jesus, now lead on.

To transform the fabric of this world
until it resembles the shape of your kingdom,

All  Jesus, now lead on.

Because good things have been prepared
for those who love God,

All  Jesus, now lead on.

                                                           Blessing

Let us stand for a moment in silence
and value our souls,
our minds and our bodies
on which we will ask God’s blessing.

Silence

May God bless us
in our bodies with health,
in our minds with understanding,
in our souls with the company of the Holy Spirit,
that together we may produce a harvest of light
to the glory of Christ our Saviour,
whose flesh we are,
whose name we bear,
whose love is all.

All  Amen.
